DAY 31 – THE SECRET OF CONFINEMENT

Saints are battling the psychological burdens of captivity, including helplessness, despair, abandonment, rejection, and criticism, as well as lack of comprehension, loneliness, and vulnerability. The straightforward truth of this chapter—God is closer than you think—is challenging to hold onto with unwavering conviction.

The Lord “created darkness His secret refuge,” according to David (Psalm 18:11). Social isolation and loneliness are common characteristics of the Lord’s prison, as are friends who have drifted away and connections that used to bring you life and grace but are now distant or estranged. Yet, the Lord, who will entice you into the wilderness, console you with His presence, and revive your passions for His goodness and glory, has organized this captivity. In order for Him to become your sole fountain in the solitude of your cell, He acts with kindness by squeezing dry every other fountain that has fed your soul. The most crucial information in this paragraph is that David describes the closeness of the prison, where he cannot stop or give up and can only move forward at the pace of the Lord sovereign set for him.

The Lord’s prison is a location of profound closeness and revelational transmission. Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak it in the light, Jesus commanded (Matthew 10:27). God is speaking to you more than you are aware of in the realm of darkness. One day you will speak in the light what He whispered to your heart in the darkness if you listen and hear in the darkness. Just show Him your love even if you feel like you are imprisoned!
