Welfare Unit

Welfares’ as a part of the ministry in Kingdom started long ago in the days of the apostles. Acts 4:3237. The aim of welfare unit is in verse 34, which in the house of faith, there will not be one that is needy, that we all will have all things in common. The unit is saddled with the responsibility of taking care of the members of the fellowship in all areas, materially, financially, etc. The unit is responsible to the welfare of every member of the fellowship, and saddled with the responsibility of helping the
members secure accommodation in different area, both around school area and in town. We are encouraged not to keep to ourselves; we should feel free to meet the welfare coordinator and any of the family coordinators, as we trust God that our needs will be met.
As a member, you are also part of the unit. Under the unit, we have different families based on our geographical locations, this is to strengthen the relationship of the members of the fellowship, and as members, and we are expected to be a faithful member of one of the families and also to the time of
family gathering.

Family Gathering

In Paul’s epistle to the brethren at Colosse, he specifically identified Bro. Nymphas who had a family gathering in his house. “Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.” Colossians 4:15. In Acts 12:5, 12, it is shown that people used to meet in the house of Mary(John Mark’s mother) where many were gathered together to pray, and they even prayed until they secured Peter’s release. In Matt. 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” God is pleased and reserve certain blessings for members of family gatherings. Observe that Paul did not underrate the operation of house fellowships in the church at Colosse.

It is a place where we discuss as a family(brothers and sisters), heart to heart talk, share minds, share the word of God together, and pray for each other.
The families are named by God according to the fruit which is expected to show forth in our lives, not just to bear the name but for it to reflect in these fruit of the Spirit. Every family is coordinated by a coordinator and new families are created as the need arises. The family gathering is a very important arm of the body of Christ; every believer should therefore be an active member in one of them. As you do so, God will recognize and bless you.

Meeting: Every family meets 7.00-8.00pm on Saturdays at different hostels chosen by the members of the family. The host may provide refreshment at the end of the gathering as God will be helping him or her, nothing is too small.

Family Day

“Family Day” is a day where the families come together usually on Sunday as one to experience a new dimension of another service with different life changing experience like family choir, family drama, etc., and it is organized by the unit as God leads.

Finances

All members of the fellowship are expected to be responsible to the welfare unit. When we have surplus most especially when resuming early in the semester, we can donate whatever we have both in cash and in kind(food stuffs) as nothing is too small or too much, it will go a long way in providing for someone’s need. Luke 6:38 says “Give and it shall be given unto you…”

For effective and efficient administration, the unit needs at least a sum of ₦20,000.00 per month to be able to achieve the aim. All donations should be forwarded to either the family coordinators or the welfare coordinator. If outside school, you can always get the bank details from the welfare secretary to donate.
