THEME: THE BEATITUDES
TOPIC: BLESSED ARE THE MEEK FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH
TEXT: MATTHEW 5:5
The Beatitudes is the attitude that should be seen in Christians life. Beatitude is supreme happiness. This happiness is from enlightenment. The beatitudes are not to be considered as moral virtues but as fruit of the Spirit.
Meekness is define as follows:
1. To patiently bear with others. Jesus being the captain of our salvation and perfect example endures not considering himself. He bear all because of his love towards humanity. (Heb 12:2)
2. Not being selfish and self-centered. Is to always consider other before yourself.
3. To esteem others than oneself. (Phil 2:3-4)
4. To bear others. Christ Jesus, the perfect example bear the burden of the word. (Eph4:2, Isaiah 53:3-7)
5. Is to wait on God. (Ps. 37:9, Luk. 18:10-14)
Inheriting the Earth is the reward for meekness. The Earth is not only the present one but also the one to come. This present Earth will pass away. If the inheritance is this Earth then their inheritance will perish.
Christ is meek and lowly in heart. This make him to be able to accommodate as many that will believe in him (Matthew 11:29). We believers has meekness in our nature, because we partake in the nature of Christ. Meekness is work out by the Holy Spirit and you are flexible to him.
