DAY 6 – THE SECRET OF SOWING

Whatever a man sows, he will likewise reap, and God is not mocked. We must remain optimistic while carrying out our good deeds because those who sow to the Spirit will reap eternal life.

When it comes to the Secret place, Christians most frequently get the feeling that they are “spinning their wheels” and that their time spent in prayer and meditation is futile. This can result in a period of neglect, but this chapter’s secret will help us get back on track. According to Galatians 6, we will ultimately reap life in the Spirit if we sow to the Spirit by devoting time to the secret place. This also holds true for the gift of seeking God in quiet reflection. When we talk about sowing, we mean creating routines and habits that allow us to regularly spend quality time in the secret place with God. This will result in a harvest in our relationship with Him, which will transform ourselves and the world in which we live.

This secret has helped me to persevere through moments when I have been tempted to abandon the fervor with which I pursue God. For instance, when I go on retreats where I fast, I tell myself that if I keep sowing, I will eventually reap. I shift my attention away from my current irritations and declare my faith in God’s promise that the harvest will come my way in due course. I’ve frequently had the secret of this chapter come to me when my time in the hidden place seemed uninteresting and unproductive, but upon reflection, I saw that it had actually been a fruitful time with God.

Our devotional life is more like the planting of a garden, therefore we shouldn’t judge our spiritual growth depending on how many tasks we completed or deadlines we reached today. Before anything we plant today bears fruit, it must flourish for a whole season.

Sowing is a routine, dull, and laborious job that is seldom ever observed at the moment. A spiritual harvest is rarely immediate, and it sometimes takes time for the advantages of sowing to become apparent. One has to prepare their heart’s soil and then plant God’s message there in order to reap a crop. If the soil of our hearts is fertile, God’s word is a potent seed that will ultimately yield a huge harvest. God will value your commitment if you continue to persist in faith and love. Every hour spent in the hidden place is an investment into everlasting truths.

Never give up! Now is the time to make an investment in your heart and plant seeds that will flourish and bear fruit later. Reaping follows sowing.
