DAY 4

TOPIC: BEING GOD’S SERVANT

If any man serves Me, he must follow Me, where I am, there My servant also will be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honour him. (John 12:26)

As Christians, the gift of salvation you received is expected to bring on you the Lordship of Christ. Coming under His lordship makes the completeness of your salvation in Him. You were saved to serve His purposes, but to participate in God’s work you must be a servant.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that as a servant the Lord has the right to assign you to any task He chose, and this requires humility and obedience which is what servanthood entails. Many scripture passages describe Jesus as God’s servant because He came to accomplish God’s will.

The salvation God offers comes with a corresponding summons to be on mission with Him. In this new relationship you move into a servant role with God as your Lord and Master. Being God’s servant is quite different from working for a human master. While an ordinary servant labors for his master, God works through his servants.

The biblical portrayal of God’s servant is more like a potter and clay. As God’s servant we have to be moldable as a clay and remain available for the master’s use as a vessel. The operational mode of God’s servant is to relate the God, respond to Him and adjust your life to Him so He will do what He wants through you.
