Day 33 – How Real Servants Act

The definition of greatness is not in terms of power, possessions, prestige and position but greatness is measured by God in terms of service and not status. Generally what we’ve believed greatness to be is by having many people serving us but that’s not it. But rather greatness is by how many people you serve, how many people you add values to, how many people you’ve reached by your service.

Of a truth many are on the race to becoming a leader while leaving the wide open field to be a servant. Being a servant doesn’t make you less of a person rather it reveals your maturity and builds character in you that is needed to sustain whatever leadership role you are taking in life. Knowing your shape reveals your ministry but having a servant’s heart will reveal your maturity. Remember you were shaped for service and not for personal gain and self centeredness, and we serve God by serving others. Even that ministry you have is for the services of others.

There are some notable traits in a real servant such as; making themselves available to serve, they give allowances to be serve wherever they are needed at the moment. Another one is that real servant pay attention to needs, always on the look out to help others. Real servant also do their best with what they have, they don’t wait for great opportunities to come before they start doing things.

Another trait to look out for is that real servant are faithful to their ministry and also maintain a low profile, they don’t call attention to themselves and are not seeking applauses of others rather they seek the audience of one which is God. The truth is that God is the one to reward openly our secret labours and service that are not prominence. The most significant service is often the service that is unseen. There a lot more to be said than this but the full glimpse is in the chapter as you read on.

Point to Ponder: I serve God by serving others.
