Day 22 – Created to Become Like Christ
You were created to become like Christ. Rom. 8:29
From the very beginning, God has wanted to created you to become like Christ, this is your destiny and the purpose for your existence, God announced this intention at the creation. Gen. 1:26. You were created in God’s image and likeness which is of a great privilege and a sense of your dignity. Jesus is the very image and the likeness of God He intended you to reflect.
God intention for your life is such that you reflect Him in His very image and likeness He has made you; in godly character and attributes. God Ultimate goal for your life is not comfort, but in developing of godly character. He wants you to grow spiritually and become like Christ, becoming like Christ is not in losing your personality but in transforming your character into His own because God created everyone uniqueness. Christlikeness is not destroying your personality, but transforming your character into His own. Rom. 12:2
Never forget that life is not about you, you’re only living for God’s purpose not vice versa. This process of become like Christ is done by the Holy Ghost and the process is called sanctification, you can’t reproduce the character of Christ on your own; new year resolution or willpower. To grow in becoming like Christ you must change your old ways of acting, the way you think, and put on the new character of Christ, developing new godly habits.
You can’t grow in Christlike in an isolation you need to be part of the church and community because true spiritual maturity is learning to love like Jesus Christ.
You’re made in the image and likeness of God to become like Christ which is your purpose for existence which can only be made possible by the help of the Holy Ghost and not your efforts.
